Does vinegar and water actually work?

Vinegar being the most “eco-friendly” cleaner is a semi myth. It’s great for cleaning as it does kill bacteria but we’re talking when it’s at its full strength. People tend to follow the trends and dilute it, add essential oils, and expect it work at the same level. It’s not going to do much for your home.

Vinegar has a very distinctive scent so using apple cider vinegar is better if you want to disguise the scent as it has a sweeter scent than the pure distilled vinegar. The fact that you’re going to also have to spend your strength scrubbing with your might to get the dirt or grease off, more than a usual cleaning product may not be worth it.

If you are going to use vinegar in your home as a cleaning product, use a normal eco-friendly cleaner first that will remove the tougher grime and then re-spray with the vinegar water as a cover up, but as a base cleaner, it’s not going to have the same finishing effect.

Tip:

Add 2 drops of washing up liquid

1 Part Water

2 Part Vinegar

2 drops of essential oil

If you are using on granite top, use a finishing polisher otherwise over time it will dull the shine of the stone.
